I am an illustrator, graphic designer, and printmaker based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. My artwork appears in books, animated videos, promotional materials, and signage. I’ve also worked in arts administration, marketing, and event management.

I recently decided to stop treating my artwork as a side hustle and turned my passion into a career as a full-time illustrator. Before this transition, I worked for more than two decades for non-profit and private sector organizations. A bit of a ballsy move, if I do say so myself, but life is short, I decided. If not now, when?

My illustrations appear in two children’s books published by Running the Goat Books & Broadsides: The Mystery of the Portuguese Waltzes (2021) and The Hippie Pirates (2023). I collaborated with animator Khamadi Ojiambo, providing the illustrations used in an animated video for Soundbone Traditional Arts Foundation, featuring Mark Walker’s beloved song Tickle Cove Pond. Among my favourite commissioned creations is the artwork I developed for the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival. I’ve also exhibited my work at the Craft Council Gallery and many local craft and print fairs.

Before launching my freelance career, I worked for nine years as Digital Marketing Specialist and Production Coordinator/Graphic Designer for the Paint Shop. I’ve also served in managing or coordinating capacities with St. Michael’s Printshop, the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation.

My studies at McMaster University, Athabasca University, University of Waterloo, Kwantlen University College, and Metro Training College have included work in graphic design, web design, digital marketing, and marketing for cultural organizations.

I’d describe my artistic style as bright, colourful, and often humorous. I draw inspiration from my day-to-day observations, easily spending hours people-watching with my sketchbook in a café. I’m fascinated by old maps, animals, and the natural world. I thrive on community engagement, volunteering with the Newfoundland and Labrador Craft Council, the Folk Arts Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. Michael’s Printshop, and the Storytelling Festival over the years.

I’m available for commissioned work or collaborations. Contact me to discuss your project.

I’m excited to dive into the world of illustration and to share what I learn along the way.
